81 2 0 1 9 - 2 0 2 0 The Lewes Polar Bears 2020 LEWES POLAR BEAR PLUNGE Special Olympics Delaware celebrated the 29th anniversary of the Lewes Polar Bear Plunge in 2020. More than 3,700 people rushed into the Atlantic Ocean in Rehoboth Beach on February 3, raising over $1,000,000 for Special Olympics Delaware. The air and water temperature both were 42 degrees at the time bears took the plunge. The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge has now brought in over $11 million for Special Olympics Delaware in its 29-year history. Law Enforcement for Special Olympics supports the Plunge, along with hundreds of volunteers who make this fun family event memorable and safe for everyone.
