TEQUILA From Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca, producer of the top-selling ArteNOM Añejo 1146, comes Purasangre Tequila (Purasangre is Spanish for "thoroughbred") a highly regarded tequila in Mexico for its mature-agave flavor and highland Atotonilco el Alto pedigree. Distilled first in stainless steel alembic pot stills, the earthy Atotonilco el Alto agave then undergoes a second distilla- tion in copper pots. The tequila produce by Fonseca is both rich and balanced, with a distinctive agave flavor inherent of Atotonilco's 4,600-foot elevation. In keeping with Casa Xalixco's house preference, the Reposado and Añejo varieties are barreled in both American and French oak casks. Purasangre includes: a clear and bright Blanco, medium in body, with subtle sweetness, ripe agave notes and fresh citrus; an amber Reposado showing cooked agave and nutty notes, supple in the mouth with hints of dried fruit raisins and tobacco; an intense Añejo 2 Años, dense, with clean aromas of toasted nuts and American oak, elegant and ample in the mouth with flavors of almond, vanilla and roasted coffee beans; and lastly a dark-topaz Añejo 5 Años, offering intense ripe agave, old wood creamy aromas, tobacco caramel, dried fruits vanilla leading to a tasty and succulent finish.
