ASSOCIATION GOVERNANCE 6 ADVOCATE | SPRING 2024 Daryl Brodziski Engaging with the Arizona Education Association is pivotal in safeguarding the essence of public education for all. By actively participating, we fortify the collective voice advocating for equitable access, quality teaching, and the transformative power of education. Join us to shape the future of Arizona's educational landscape. Gretchen Clifton I have been honored to be a committed educator and member for 19 years. With your vote, I hope to serve as a representative to the NEA-RA. With a focus on student well-being and educator support, I aim to amplify our region and state voices, advocating for inclusive, impactful policies. Melanie Cobos As a passionate state and local leader, I defend racial and social justice and advocate for the health and safety of all educational stakeholders. I've given substantial consideration to the Delegate role and cannot wait to contribute my 23+ years experience in speaking truth to power. I appreciate your vote! Christy Sainz I would love the opportunity to represent our members at the NEA- RA this July. I have been an AEA/Tucson EA member for 26 years; serving on the Racial and Social Justice Task Force, EMC Chair, current NEA Hispanic Caucus Secretary, and Tucson EA Secretary. anks for your support. Angela Philpot As your elected AEA Vice President, I am asking for your vote to serve as a delegate to the 2024 NEA-RA. Having all three of your AEA officers working with our delegates at the NEA-RA is vital to an informed, effective delegation while we are representing Arizona at the NEA-RA. Marisol Garcia As your AEA President, I will continue to be proud to represent AEA at the 2024 NEA RA. I look forward to bringing the voices of Arizona educators to a national stage. I promise to continue to energize, organize, and lead this summer. I ask for your continued support. Election Districts Election District A Scott Harnisch I am R. Scott Harnisch. I am running for NEA Regional Delegate for AEA. I am a 36 year educator spending 31 of those years in the Kyrene School District. I have been a member KEA and AEA for 30 years and proud of it. I ask for your vote. Election District B Angela Philpot As your elected AEA Vice President, I am asking for your vote to serve as a delegate to the 2024 NEA-RA. Having all three of your AEA officers working with our delegates at the NEA-RA is vital to an informed, effective delegation while we are representing Arizona at the NEA-RA. Election District C Becky Williams As an AEA member, local president, and former regional director, I strive to always represent the members who elected me to serve in the capacities in which I am charged. I would be honored to have your vote to serve as your regional delegate to the 2024 NEA RA. Election District D Dylan Wince I am proud of the relationships that I have been blessed with through doing this Union work. I am passionate about organizing, building our collective knowledge and bringing in more people to our Union community! Help me continue to learn! Kelly Berg Excited to represent Region D at the NEA RA this summer, I bring three years of Mesa EA Presidency. is school year witnessed the best growth in our organization in over a decade. I'm grateful for the chance to serve new members and all of Region D. Election District E (2) Thomas A. Larsen I have 26 years of experience in education, spread out within four Arizona school districts. I am an active Unit Chair in the Phoenix Union High School District. I have experience working in a large variety of school environments and subject areas. I will work hard to represent us well. Mark Sides Good Day! My name is Mark Sides. I am a proud union member at Deer Valley Education Association! is is my 3rd Career, and I hope to bring some of that life experience and win-win attitude into making AEA a Super Majority. ank you, Mark Sides Gretchen Clifton I have been honored to be a committed educator and member for 19 years. Lena Dyer- Guzman I am currently in my 4th year as a psychologist at Bethune Elementary. Prior to that I was an ESS teacher for over 13 years. I have been a union member since the beginning of my career. I believe public schools are fundamental to a healthy democracy and thriving communities. Election District F Victoria Jones As a local ESP vice president, I can see in the relatively short time I have been a part of the union the power we hold when we stand united. e NEA RA is an amazing opportunity for all educators to get together to continue working towards our shared goals. Election District G Estevan Carreon 2021 CEC Special Education Teacher of the Year; 2021 AEF Ambassador of Excellence; AzK12 Center Spotlight Teacher Leader; AzK12 TARIAT Conference Presenter; AEF Presenter for Our World training (justice and reform around anti- racism); AEA Compliance & Review Committee; GUEA Executive Committee; Previous NEA State Director; Previous AEA Diversity Grant recipient. Brittani Karbginsky e interest in growing the union has been growing exceedingly and the WDEA wants to continue influencing members to become more involved with Union matters. WDEA has been pushing into schools to showcase who we are. We want to continue this momentum by allowing another member to attend the RA.
