Having attended the RA for the first time in 2023, I was inspired by the potential for impactful work. I am now seeking your vote of confidence to represent Region 7 as an AEA delegate. I have been in public education for six years, and involved in my association for five years. I am currently the site leader at my school, and the communications chair for Cartwright Education Association. I am very passionate about students, ESP's, and teachers rights within a school building. Before becoming a classroom teacher, I held many ESP jobs including cafeteria monitor, long term substitute for secretaries, and substitute teaching. I feel as though I have a lot of knowledge to bring to the table and help empower the Board of Directors to make decisions that will benefit all locals within AZ. I, Sandra Cobos-Ruiz, am an eighteen-year teacher and AEA member and current Region 7 Alternate Director. I am excited to run for Region 7 Director and apply the vast knowledge I have gained from my many positions at the national, state, and local levels. I served as a Delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly for several years. At the state level, in addition to being Region 7 Alternate Director, I served as AEA Governance Champion where I recruited and engaged new educators across Arizona. One of my greatest accomplishments include being a founding member of eSWAG, in which I was the Chair for many years. In that endeavor, I was an integral leader in supporting new educators by showing them how to become activists in their profession as well as providing leadership opportunities. Currently, I serve as Member-At- Large for the Cartwright Education Association Executive Board. I have held many other roles for my local executive board. Some of these include Vice President and Meet and Confer Team Member. Additionally, I was honored to create CEA's student scholarship application and award process for our school district's graduating 8th graders. I believe that my continued leadership can have a positive impact on our members and our community by strengthening existing relationships and forging new ones. I see significant potential to further expand our organization and improve the services we offer to our members. By remaining on the board, I can utilize my experience, skills, and dedication to drive positive change and advocate for initiatives that will benefit our region and the wider AEA community. My commitment to collaborative decision-mak - ing, transparency, and accountability will enable me to effectively represent the interests of region 8 and CEA on the AEA board. I am dedicated to fostering open communication channels, forming partner- ships, and advocating for policies that promote inclusivity, diversity, and equity, consistent with our union values. Moreover, I believe that my ongoing presence on the Board will ensure continuity and stability during this crucial period of transition and growth for our region and the AEA. With a proven track record of leadership and an unwavering dedication to our mission, I am confident that I can make a meaning - ful contribution.
