Seeking your vote For DSEA Executive Board - New Castle County 7 vacancies - all elected pending ratification by the Executive Board Pam Ingram David Kohan Mike Matthews Jeannette Wilt I am asking for your support in allowing me to continue as a member of the Executive Board. Your DSEA Ingram Executive Board is an outstanding and dedicated group of partners in education; I am honored to be among them. Having proudly served on this board for a few years, I strongly advocate for the needs of everyone in education, especially ESPs. As an ESP on the Executive Board, I must keep myself well-informed of concerns impacting all aspects of education. Our union is strong, but with changes in education, it is vital that we remain vigilant to the needs of our members. Issues we face are important to our immediate and long-term future. I proudly serve as President of the Colonial Para Association and with your vote for DSEA Executive Board I can continue to advocate for YOU. To state it simply…I care! I am a teacher in the Christina School District at Glasgow H.S. I served as a Building Kohan Representative and am Area A Director for high schools as a member of the CEA Executive Board. I have served on contract negotiations, strategic planning and budget/bylaws committees. I am currently a member of the State Professional Standards Board and the DSEA Executive Board. I am running for the DSEA Executive Board because I believe that it is my duty to uphold the best interests of the teaching profession. I would be an asset to DSEA, bringing a well rounded background. If elected, I pledge my integrity, character, and professionalism to advocate for member rights and interests. I am a strong problem solver with very good interpersonal skills. It would be a pleasure to serve you in the capacity of DSEA executive Board for New Castle County . I'm running for a seat on DSEA's Executive Board because I believe in the organization's message of empowering educaMatthews tors. We are professionals and we know how to best represent the interests of our students, parents, and communities. I've worked as the Grievance Chair for my local, Red Clay Education Association and have learned the ins and outs of helping members navigate the contract so they can feel empowered to address their concerns. I've taken an active role in DSEA activities since I started teaching three years ago, namely in the political activism realm. I see politics as a necessary piece of DSEA's effectiveness and I will look at continuing to forge positive relationships with all involved in education to push forward DSEA's agenda. I am a math teacher at Brandywine High School, and I would like to continue to serve DSEA memWilt bers by being reelected to the DSEA Executive Board. I believe that my experiences with BEA, as a building rep and Legislative chairperson, and DSEA have given me a strong foundation to stand up for public education and the rights of our members. I regularly attend and actively participate in the state and national representative assemblies, as well as many other meetings and conferences, and share the knowledge I gain with my colleagues in my building and throughout my district. I hope to be able to continue to serve as an advocate for all public school educators, and appreciate your vote for another opportunity to serve on the DSEA Executive Board. Abraham Jones Well, I certainly pondered over the decision to run for reelection a 3rd term with the Delaware State Jones Education Association Executive Board (DSEA), and the decision is that after four years of experience, change is inevitable. One major change is that there have been three DSEA Presidents and two Executive Directors since I have been a member of the board. Education echoes the same sentiments; there is always an innovative Education policy waiting in the wings to be implemented. Therefore, as these changes continue to evolve, I really find it a privilege to know that I advocate and service members as a volunteer voice in the international educational process. In addition to DSEA, this includes the National Education Association who partnered with the American Psychological Association (APA), which brought a co-authored published peer reviewed piece on Teacher Victimization. Jackie Kook Please accept this letter as declaration of my intent to continue to serve New Castle County as a Kook representative to the DSEA Executive Board. I have been serving in this capacity since May of 2012 when I was selected to fill an unexpired term. In this admittedly short time I have grown a great deal in my understanding of the inner workings of the union and have made connections to other members and local affiliates to further the work of the organization. As a member of the Executive Board I have made decisions regarding the direction of DSEA, the endorsement of candidates for elected office, and improving communication throughout the state. The knowledge and insight I have gained have improved me professionally and helped me to make decisions on behalf of the members of my local as well as other state locals and affiliates. 10 Nov./Dec. 2012 DSEA ACTION! Shirin Skovronski During my 22 years as a CEA member, I have been a secondary math teacher for 14 years and a Skovronski counselor the rest of the time.
