Winter Advocacy Retreat February 22-24, 2013 Atlantic Sands Hotel February Rehoboth Beach for for WAR Winter Advocacy Retreat 22-24 We Want You To become an informed Union Member! Choose one track - register online u Basic Training for Unionists: What Every Union Member Needs to Know Participants will increase knowledge of their contractual rights by researching and analyzing specific relevant contract provisions. New "WAR" recruits and veterans alike will benefit from this dynamic session. Participants will learn how their union operates, as well as their workplace rights as public school employees. Register online at https://www.regonline.com/ DSEAWinterAdvocacyRetreat beginning December 15 he tuition for this event will be $75 per participant for those participants sharing a room. For those participants requesting a single room, the tuition will be $175 for two nights, $85 for one night. The tuition rate covers the cost of the room, dinner on Friday evening, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday The tuition for commuters . is $60 which covers the cost of meals. Scholarships are available for those participants who have never attended Leaders Weekend or the T www.dsea.org w v AR Boot Camp Winter Advocacy Retreat. Local Hardship Grants are also available. If you are forced to cancel, DSEA is still liable for your rooming and meal costs. Cancellation after February 8, 2013 will result in a $75 cancellation fee if you were sharing a room, Moving up in the ranks, participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of the Association Representative. To be the best they can be, participants will focus on the skills needed for effective communication, advocacy, problem solving, political activism, and recruitment. $175 if you requested a single room. The cancellation fee will be waived if you can recruit someone to attend in your place. Space is limited! Boots on the Ground: Issue Organizing for Activists What do you do when there's no apparent legal or contractual way to solve a problem? Organize!!! Participants will develop the necessary skills to communicate effectively with their members, organize using a relational model, and create and escalate a field campaign. Information that you need to provide in order to register yourself or a group includes: Personal Information (contact name, local, guests), Hotel/Rooming Preference, Payment Option (credit card/check), special needs, i.e., restricted diet, rooming preferences, etc. Registration closes on February 8, 2013.
