Free financial help February 11 & 25 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. What is the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)? The EITC is a refundable tax credit for working people who earn a low to moderate income. Depending on income and number of children, you may receive a credit. Max in 2011 $5,751. Who qualifies for the EITC? If you had no children living with you in 2011 and you earned less than $13,660, and you were between ages 25-64 (married filing jointly income limit is $18,740) If you lived with one child in 2011 and your family earned less than $36,052 (married filing jointly income limit is $41,132) If you lived with two children in 2011 and your famly earned less than $40,964 (married filing jointly income limit is $46,044) If you lived with three or more children and your family earned less than $43,998 (married filing jointly $49,078) Credit amounts will be announced later in the year or in the beginning of 2013 pending Congress determination. Free to DSEA members and their families: • Tax filing help, especially for lowerincome families • Help for members with high school students looking to apply for college • February 11 and February 25 • Any time between 2pm and 6pm No RSVP necessary • DSEA Office at 4135 OgletownStanton Road, Newark 18 Nov./Dec. 2012 DSEA ACTION! nce again this year, the "Delaware Alliance for Community Advancement" has offered to provide financial experts for DSEA members, conveniently at the DSEA New Castle County office, in order to offer their free Tax Preparation help, especially for those who earn lower wages and qualify for the "Earned Tax Credit." This applies, unfortunately, to many of our ESP members. New this year, this community organization is also offering free help with filling out the FASFA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), the income-reporting form that most colleges now require in order to determine if your son/daughter qualifies for any of their scholarships or grants.
