Since being on the Executive Board, I have served on the Finance Task Force and participated in the Insurance Commissioner Interviews. I want to continue being a voice for all of our members, aid in making decisions for DSEA that are in the best interest of our members, and reporting back. I thank you for your support, and I am hoping to continue serving the members of Kent County . I am a Special Education Specialist in the Smyrna School District. I am applying to serve Cooke Kent County as a representative for the DSEA Executive Board. As a Special Education Specialist, I work with children with significant disabilities. I help children find ways to communicate. I have the opportunity to work with students in every school, at all grade levels. I have the unique opportunity to work throughout our district, which affords me the chance to make connections with teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries and custodians- all members of DSEA. These connections are essential in working together to help our schools succeed. Fostering these relationships builds a greater sense of community within our school districts. Becoming a DSEA Executive Board member will be a chance to serve the members of both my school community, and the entire state. Gary Duren I thank the members of Kent County for the opportunity to represent you for the past 2 1/2 years and would Duren ask you to consider me for another two years. I am currently a 6th grade math teacher in the Caesar Rodney School district. I have been a member of CREA/DSEA for nearly seven years as well. I believe that there has been great strides made in education in Delaware but there are many more to go. First and foremost I believe that DPAS II is, in its current form, a flawed tool and I want the opportunity to work with DSEA and its leadership team to correct its flaws. I believe that I have, and I promise to continue to serve Kent County and the state of Delaware and all of those involved in education to the best of my ability . Thank you for your consideration. www.dsea.org You'll notice that all races are uncontested except for Sussex County Executive Board where there are three candidates for two seats.
