LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2023 • 11 permits, Deren Getz/LMGI, who spoke in great detail about the regulations and the "can do" support he received from Kwame Amoaku. Commissioner Amoaku chimed in with extra details from his perspective. With the crowd drooling over the new "yes" policy for drone filming use, the two owners of Xizmo Media xizmomedia .com, Edward Kostakis and Pablo Barrera, delivered a total package of the evolution of the new regulations. By chance, two of the three new legal "drone" permits were base camped from one of the host Sage Realty buildings. Sage has four 40+ story-high buildings on Third Avenue in midtown that have terraces, thus extending drone flight range, while still being over private property. The rooftop departure of the drone from Sage perfectly delivers the classic skyline from the roof and from the air. Said Sage's Yvette Rivera, "Sage Realty was delighted to host this event at our new Oasis amenity space at 767 Third Avenue in NYC. Spending the evening with so many experts and stakeholders across a diverse array of subjects related to location scouting was incredibly informative for us as well as a location partner, to learn more about what professionals need in different situations and how we can be a better business partner." The evening ended a huge success achieving the social meeting of the location professionals. The project was the result of the hard work of myself and Eric Klein/ LMGI who helped network the pros to get out and enjoy the community that LMGI is all about. Special thanks to LMGI administrator Erika Howard for her prompt artwork and E-Event skills. Said Klein, "NYC has very few film industry events, and this one came at a perfect time, organized by the LMGI, for the location community. Sage Realty, which has some amazing properties, graciously donated their space, food, drinks and their time. The party rocked from start to finish. People didn't want it to end, and the next day, I received 30 texts and calls asking me, "when is the next one, we need more LMGI events in NYC. This was the first of many."
