OH, WHAT
A NIGHT!
On the glorious evening of August 26, LMGI members and
their guests from around the world gathered in person
and via streaming at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in
Santa Monica, CA, for a joyous celebration of the Guild's
20th anniversary and the 10th Annual LMGI Awards.
Undeterred by the woes of labor actions by the WGA and SAG/
AFTRA that have halted production for months, award nominees
came from across the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Jordan, Poland,
Czech Republic, Ireland, Ghana, Norway, Spain, Estonia, the US
Virgin Islands and Saudi Arabia to celebrate the extraordinary
location work of their colleagues and bask in the warmth of the
evening and the professional camaraderie it inspired.
As the only global awards ceremony dedicated solely to our craft,
the event ceremony and after-party boasted a full house of location
professionals, film commissions, LMGI business partners, industry
press and members of the Cinema Audio Society, Set Decorators
Society of America and TV Academy of Governors.
The ceremony opened with a dazzling montage of the past 10
years of LMGI Award shows. LMGI President John Rakich welcomed
the crowd, remarking just how much the Guild has grown since
2003 when an energetic group of Los Angeles location professionals
committed to promoting our role in the creative process in order
to gain more respect for our craft. Twenty years later, the LMGI
is a dynamic 40-country-strong organization—a milestone worth
celebrating!
