www.postmagazine.com 18 POST SEPT/OCT 2023 EMMY CONTENDERS An inside look at some of primetime's top programming BY MARC LOFTUS The Emmy Awards recognize excellence throughout the television industry, and marked their 75th anniversary this year. But, due to strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG), this year's Primetime Emmy Awards were rescheduled from their original date of September 18, 2023 to January 15, 2024. Here, we look at a number of shows that have received nominations for their production and post production work, including releases from Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO, Hulu and Neon. Ted Lasso Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso receive more than 20 Emmy nominations for its third season, including those for Directing, Picture Editing, Original Music and Lyrics, Writing, Music Supervision and Visual Effects. Jason Sudeikis plays Ted Lasso, a small- time college football coach from Kansas, who's been hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience. Director Declan Lowney recalls his initial conver- sation with Jason Sudeikis about the show. "Jason talked about this amazing show he wanted to make. He had such a clear vision about why he was making it and what it was for. It was inspiring to listen to him!" Season 3 was shot using Arri Alexa cameras, similar to prior seasons.
