6 FA L L 2 0 2 3 I C A S Q U A R T E R L Y COLLABORATORS David Bondelevitch CAS MPSE is a re-recording mixer and educator who has won two Emmy Awards and two MPSE Golden Reel Awards (and has been nominated 22 times). He is Past President and Board member of the Motion Picture Sound Editors. David was the Secretary of the Cinema Audio Society 2012-2019, Vice President 2007-2011, and has been on the Board of Directors since 2006. He has been writing for the CAS Quarterly magazine since 2006 and was co-editor in 2007. His most recent projects include mixing the documentary Empty Net, about the US Paralympics sled hockey team that aired on NBC Sports. He also mixed the documentary Southwest of Salem, which won a Peabody Award. He also mixed the cult comedy Jimmy Vestvood: Amerikan Hero, starring Persian-American comedian Maz Jobrani. David is an associate professor at CU Denver, where he teaches recording arts. David received his MFA in cinema production from USC and also holds a bachelor of music in jazz composition from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. G. John Garrett CAS is a production sound mixer living in Boston, MA. He began mixing live music around 1970 and learned acoustics, signal flow, and recording technology along the way. He began in the industry booming for Boulder mixer Garrett Collenberger and moved into mixing documentaries, commercials, and feature films after moving to Boston in 1984. He then expanded his RF training by working with broadcast engineers and now also consults with a broadcast tech company in the area. Steven A. Morrow CAS is a three- time Academy Award-nominated production sound mixer who has contributed to nearly 150 film and television projects. He is known for his creative solutions on technically challenging movies. Morrow has collaborated on several high-profile and acclaimed films where sound has played a critical role in the storytelling. His first Academy Award and BAFTA nominations came for his work on Damien Chazelle's multi-nominated film La La Land and second nomination was for his work on Bradley Cooper's directorial debut, A Star Is Born, which received the CAS Award for Motion Picture – Live Action. Morrow also received a double platinum record for his work on the soundtrack, which included song vocals and dialogue recorded during filmmaking. Morrow's most recent projects include Olivia Wilde's directorial debut, Don't Worry Darling, Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters: Afterlife, James Mangold's Ford v Ferrari, Cathy Yan's Birds of Prey, and Damien Chazelle's Babylon. Upcoming credits include Bradley Cooper's Maestro and Blitz Bazawule's The Color Purple. Past credits include Little Miss Sunshine, You're Not You, Get on Up, The Lincoln Lawyer, Draft Day, and many other film and television projects. Steven Morrow lives in Los Angeles with his wife Ten and incredibly adorable dog Buddy. Kurt Kassulke CAS is a longtime effects re-recording mixer with an Emmy for Ally McBeal and diverse credits ranging back to The X-Files, The Practice, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, NYPD Blue, Castle, Under the Dome, Vampire Diaries, and Hawaii 5-0. Kurt's most recent work can be heard on Grey's Anatomy, Project Blue Book, Big Sky, and more! Karol Urban CAS MPSE has served directors and producers as a re-recording mixer for television and feature films since 1999. She describes her job as "playing mind games with sound." Karol is an involved member of her community, having served as part of the Television Academy's Governor's Peer Group for Sound Mixing, co-organized The LA Sound Group, and served as a blue- ribbon panel judge for the Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reels. Karol acted as content editor of the CAS Quarterly for seven years and served as a Board member for the Cinema Audio Society before being elected as President of the organization in 2019, where she served until terming out in 2023. She enjoys educational outreach and moderation and is a strong advocate for the art of sound for picture. Some of Karol's notable credits include Grey's Anatomy, The Stand, Made for Love, For All Mankind, She- Hulk: Attorney at Law, National Treasure: Edge of History, and Tiny Beautiful Things. Viktor Prášil CAS AMPS is a production sound mixer based in Prague, Czech Republic. After graduating from film school, he started recording Foley for films at Soundsquare Studio. However, after a few years, he fully dedicated himself to production sound. With his crew, he works on commercials and TV series, but his true passion lies in shooting feature films. His work on Czech films has earned him four nominations for Czech Lion Awards. He has worked on projects for HBO, Peacock, and Netflix. For his outstanding work on the film All Quiet on the Western Front, he won BAFTA, AMPS, and German Film Awards and received nominations for the CAS Award and the Oscar. In his free time, he enjoys hiking in the mountains with his girlfriend Anna and his dog Huba. Viktor is also constantly exploring whether Czech beer remains the best in the world.
