But with laughter, hugs and hearty handshakes filling the room, an outside observer might never have guessed who's family and who's friend—unless you've got a keen eye for family resemblances, that is. But the Wente family was joined at their Livermore Valley winery by some of their strongest distributor partners—their extended family—for the ninth annual Legacy Awards, which recognize excellence in sales across the Wente Family Estates portfolio. With awards categorized based on market size, Wente Family Estates' international and U.S.-based distributors were awarded for year-over-year success, with three tiers of awards given. "We're so excited to have you here in the Livermore Valley to celebrate your good work," began Carolyn Wente, Fourth Generation Winegrower and CEO. "Tonight, we will celebrate and build upon our relationships through the years," she continued, remarking that the inaugural Legacy awards in 2008 coincided with the winery's 125th anniversary. "The best and most beautiful things come from hard work and collaboration. You've given us both, and we offer our heartfelt thanks for your contributions." Ninth Time's The Wente Family celebrates its success: Eric Wente, Fourth Generation Winegrower and Chairman of the Board; Jordan Wente, Fifth Generation Winegrower; Karl Wente, Fifth Generation Winemaker and COO; Carolyn Wente, Fourth Generation Winegrower and CEO; Phil Wente, Fourth Generation Winegrower and Co-Founder, Murrieta's Well; Christine Wente, Fifth Generation Winegrower and President of the Wente Foundation for Arts Education.
