For those who knew of Kirk Francis CAS, a few thoughts may come to mind. They
may have known him as the Oscar-winning production sound mixer for The Bourne
Ultimatum or from any of the incredible films he had recorded the sound for over
his impressive career. They may have heard stories of a man who had grown up in
San Francisco and had the experience of recording sound for famed author Ken
Kesey. Or perhaps heard stories of a curmudgeon who perfectly embodied the
reputation that so often plagues production sound mixers. I was fortunate to know
Kirk Francis as an incredible mentor.
