At age 20, in his hometown of San Francisco, he found work as a pictorial billboard sign painter. His experience painting many large wall signs and billboards all over the Bay Area led to painting seven mega murals for Nike that decorated Los Angeles during the 1984 Olympics. His experience in painting large murals led to him starting his own companies, David Larks Illustration and Adrem Creative, painting large outdoor advertising murals for well-known companies, including, David Larks Nike, LA Gear and Reebok. His company expanded to add indoor restaurant murals, scenic backdrops for film and TV, prop paintings, trade show backdrops and billboard design. His next career turn was into comics and illustration for licensed products for Disney, Marvel, Image and Saban. In 2004, Famous Frames, the nation's leading storyboarding firm, added him to their talented roster of artists, working on thousands of national ad campaigns. Excellence in illustration, speed and experience, combined with his positive attitude, help bring the director's vision and highly produced film projects to life. He has enjoyed over 16 years working on numerous promotional/entertainment campaigns, including Cars 2, G-Force, Muppets, Tron, Fargo, Aladdin, Coco, The Grinch, Veep, Big Little Lies, Monsters vs Aliens, Brides, Gnomes, Sherlock Gnomes and Frankenstein Chronicles. In 2019, he was proud to join the ADG, and to be included in this highly recognized group of amazing creative professionals. David is excited for what the future holds and looks forward to what is yet to come. His website is: www.davidlarks.com About Asparagus Cop 2021 Denali Kagel/David Larks Denali is the longtime partner of David's daughter. He graduated from Washington State University with a degree in biochemistry. Along with writing about anthropomorphic vegetable cops, he has an interest in pursuing medicine. Asparagus Cop first came to fruition when Denali had a dream while recovering from a nasty concussion. Denali described a bizarre fever dream where he was in the back seat of a cop car and the two officers in front were Asparagus-men. The vision was so vivid and absurd that he started brainstorming ideas. He imagined a character who was just a normal police officer in every way except for the fact that he was an asparagus. Asparagus Cop would try so hard to fit in but everyone around him couldn't get over the fact that he was a 6-foot walking, talking vegetable. Denali pitched the idea to David, who then brought the character to life with his illustrations. Asparagus Cop is a journey into the absurd as one asparagus tries to gain acceptance into a society that doesn't want to see him as a fellow person.
