With a wide range of performances by musical, dance, comedy and cabaret numbers, the Carpenter Performing Arts Center has something for everyone, every year. This upcoming season's lineup includes Garrison Keillor, Susan Egan, Pilobolus, the Zoppé Family Circus, Jigu! Thunder Drums of China, In Search of Beethoven: A film by Phil Grabsky, An Evening with Leonard Nimoy, Strega Nona, Allan Harris, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Flying Karamazov Brothers, The Mighty Echoes, Mark Twain's The Diaries of Adam and Eve, Joshua Bell, Parsons Dance performing Remember Me, Alpin Hong, The Aluminum Show, Great Big Sea, Susan Werner, David Dorfman Dance, Pink Floyd LaserSpectacular, An Evening with Billy Collins and First Person: Seeing America. The Garage Theatre 251 E. 7th St. Long Beach, CA 90813 562.433.8337 • thegaragetheatre.org In 1996, a sold-out audience of 12 people witnessed the world premiere of Egg Man in a small garage in Costa Mesa. The show was a hit and the same 12 people returned the following night for an encore performance. However, it wasn't until 2000 that The Garage Theatre was officially formed and it wasn't until 2005 that the group found a home of its own. Since then, The Garage Theatre has been steadily building a gutsy reputation, producing the overlooked and forgotten works of contemporary playwrights. The Garage Theatre looks to close out the 2010 season with Clive Barker's The History of the Devil and Revenge of the Space Pandas. The Found Theatre 599 Long Beach Blvd. Long Beach, CA 90802 562.433-3363 • foundtheatre.org If you think you've seen it all, you probably haven't seen The Found Theatre, which has been referred to as wacky, wild, over-the-top and unpredictable. The Found Theatre is all about madness, baked fresh from its own oven. If you want a taste of lunacy, upcoming shows include Fred Blanco's The Stories of Cesar Chavez, Beyond the Valley of the Flight Attendants–The Musical and A Dysfunctional Family Dilemma: WWJD? (What Would Jolene Do?). It's a good idea to browse their website as you never know what insanity The Found Theatre will cook up next. ISSUE SPECIAL
