C I N E M A A U D I O S O C I E T Y. O R G 7 CAS Associate member Ryan Pedersen has loved sound his whole life, even as a little kid. He originally planned on working in live sound or recording music in studios but found his way into film production and has been doing that ever since. Ryan has seen a large portion of the world from his early documentary work but now spends most of his time in Los Angeles doing music and dialogue playback or mixing scripted projects. When not on set or at home with his wife and four kids, he finds refuge at his train club at Griffith Park. Patrick Spain CAS is a re-recording mixer known for Ryan Murphy's 9-1- 1, 9-1-1: Nashville, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Amy Poehler's Lucy and Desi, as well as Seth MacFarlane's Family Guy and American Dad. He began his career at Signet Sound, a boutique film scoring studio occupying Motown's West Coast studio. During his time there, he worked on over 50 film scores for the likes of Randy Newman, Thomas Newman, Jon Brion, Terence Blanchard, and many others. In 2007, he made the move to the legendary Ocean Way Recording (later re-named United Western), and Record One. Here, he had an education in classic recording gear and techniques for pop, rock, jazz, hip-hop, in addition to film scores. Throughout this period, Patrick was lucky enough to work for such wide-ranging artists as Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, Herbie Hancock, Dr. Dre, Beck, John Mayer, Dave Stewart, Seal, Pink, Dido, Erykah Badu, Brandi Carlile, Paramore, Gerald Wilson, Barry White (posthumously), and with composers such as James Horner, Patrick Doyle, and Mychael Danna. In 2011, Patrick was offered an opportunity to work for Todd-AO. It was another expansive learning experience, this time in the state-of-the- art dub stage working on major motion pictures like The Avengers, Lone Survivor, and well-regarded television like Girls and Nashville. Across these career moves, Patrick has kept busy mixing dialogue, effects, single-mixer films, and television, working everywhere from Technicolor, Warner Bros., Bad Robot, Advantage Audio, Formosa Group, and Pacific Standard Sound. Brandon Schuster CAS is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. He studied audio at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Gilbert, Arizona, and then moved to L.A. to begin his career. Since then, he has worked in all avenues of the industry from recording audiobooks, mixing and editing trailers and commercials, Foley and ADR mixing, and assistant editing for reality television and features. For the last seven years, Brandon has been involved in localization where he works as a recording engineer and dubbing director for anime and live-action international episodic series and features. Gregory Vilfranc CAS MPSE is a re-recording mixer and sound designer originally from New York, who now resides in the Greater Boston area with his wife and kids. Gregory is the co-founder of the boutique, fully remote audio post facility Franc Village Studios, where he puts into practice the professional skills he's developed over the past 20+ years while maintaining a "relationship first" philosophy for all his clients. In addition to providing audio post support for TV and film on the independent circuit, he's also contributed to the audiobook and podcast space where he's edited, mixed, and mastered over 60 published audiobooks. Recently, Gregory teamed up with Audible Originals in their podcast space, mixing and adding sound design to titles, including Think Like a Champion w/ Russell Wilson, Soldiers of Science, In Love and Struggle Vol. 2, and most notably, Mandela: The Lost Tapes. In addition to audio post, Gregory is an accomplished composer and vocalist. As a BMI member, his compositions have been featured on networks, including VH1, Oxygen, and MTV, and have received placement in several popular reality TV shows like Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Love and Hip Hop, and others. Gregory is a member of The Society of Composers & Lyricists, CAS, MPSE, and the Television Academy.
