4 S U M M E R 2 0 2 6 I C A S Q U A R T E R L Y It had been many, many years since I last attended the CAS Awards, but everything lined up relative to schedule this year, so my wife Stephanie and I headed out to L.A. for a mix of fun and more fun. It was so rewarding meeting people who I've been communicating with via screen, phone, and email for years in person. The pre-party in the garden area was a great time to mingle and point out all the different faces to my wife, "She mixes this series. He did the location sound for this movie." Meeting many of the contributors to this magazine in person, and even in front of the Dolby-sponsored CAS Quarterly photo booth, was a treat. The show itself was filled with laughs and celebration and was followed by a great after-party that seemed to end too soon—even though we left around 1:00. [Photo and video coverage of the event can be found under the 62nd Annual Awards Coverage section of the website.] This issue celebrates the award recipients from the evening. Thanks to those who took time to speak with the recipients and put together articles, including Sam Casas, Juan Cisneros CAS, Kurt Kassulke CAS, Peter Kelsey CAS, Blas Kisi´c CAS, Matthew Nicolay CAS, Brandon Schuster CAS, and Gregory Charles Vilfranc CAS MPSE. In addition to our "Meet the Winners" articles, CAS Associate Ryan Pedersen presents an article on hearing damage and Matthew Nicolay provides some insight into complicated comms setups in his case study article on the hit series Peacemaker. On the event front, G. John Garrett CAS shares his thoughts on some of the technology presented at NAB 2026 in Las Vegas and I provide a recap of my time attending this year's Mix Music Production event in Nashville. In the back pages, be sure to check out your colleagues' "Been There Done That" and "The Lighter Side" submissions. If an article makes you think of a friend or colleague, send a link to the online version of the Quarterly, available on the CAS website. Have something to share? We'd love to hear from you! While it felt like speed-dating at times—three minutes with this person, three minutes with this other person—I am so glad I attended.
