The Cinema Audio Society presented a memorable evening of audio celebration, rolling out the red carpet for its 62nd annual awards on March 7, 2026, at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. More than a typical Hollywood gathering, this was our chance to honor the talented sound professionals who bring movies and TV shows to life with every mix and effect. Chris Hardwick hosted with great energy and sharp humor about our world of mics and mixes, keeping the room laughing while highlighting the passion we all share. CAS President Peter Kurland delivered President's Remarks and announced the 2026- 2027 Board of Directors installation, adding some new faces to guide our society forward. "Tonight, we celebrate the very best of our profession," proclaimed Kurland. "Sound mixing demands both technical skill and artistic intent, and these honorees exemplify the precision, creativity, and discipline that define our craft. We are proud to recognize professionals whose dedication and excellence continue to elevate the standard for our industry." Kurland's words set the perfect tone for the 62nd CAS Awards, underscoring sound's quiet power in every great story. The emotional center of the night came from well-deserved honors for Filmmaker Award recipient, director Guillermo del Toro and Career Achievement Award recipient, re-recording mixer Skip Lievsay. Career Achievement Award presenters Jaimie Alexander, Eric André, Tig Notaro, and "Weird Al" Yankovic shared warm stories of Lievsay's remarkable career, turning complex tracks into the heartbeat of films we love. A standout moment was the inaugural Jeffrey S. Wexler Award for Advancement in Sound Technology, created in memory of production sound mixer Jeff Wexler after his passing in December 2025. The award was presented to innovators Evan Brooks and Peter Gotcher (founders of Digidesign), and Glenn Sanders (founder) and Howard Stark (chief engineer) of Zaxcom for their forward-thinking audio tools. 62ND ANNUAL CAS AWARDS b y J u a n C i s n e r o s C A S
