10 S U M M E R 2 0 2 6 I C A S Q U A R T E R L Y ANNOUNCEMENTS The Jeffrey S. Wexler Award for Advancement in Sound Technology The Jeffrey S. Wexler Award honors individuals, companies, and products that have had a profound impact on the art and craft of sound mixing. This award may recognize advancements that either extensively improved on existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they materially changed how sound is recorded, mixed, or delivered. The award may be given to a specific technology, individual or product, or to multiple technologies, individuals or products honoring a wider category of contribution. The CAS Science Technology and Engineering Committee will review and evaluate all submissions to determine which submissions will be awarded. Applications may be submitted by committee members, CAS members, product manufacturers, and individual inventors. • Applications can be submitted on the CAS website by navigating: AWARDS > 63RD AWARDS > JEFFREY S. The 63rd Annual CAS Awards will take place on Saturday, March 6, 2027. The 64th Annual CAS Awards will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2028. Every year, the CAS Awards recognize Outstanding Sound Mixing in film and television, along with an annual Student Recognition Award, the CAS Career Achievement Award, the CAS Filmmaker Award, and now, the new Jeffrey S. Wexler Award. "Our community of sound professionals continues to raise the bar year after year," said Cinema Audio Society President Peter Kurland. "The CAS is proud to shine a spotlight on their remarkable work. We anticipate a great celebration of the best in sound mixing at the 63rd CAS Awards." 63RD CAS AWARDS TIMELINE: • The entry submission form will be available online on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, on the CAS website at: www.cinemaaudiosociety .org. • Entry submissions due online – 5 p.m. PT, Monday, December 7, 2026 • Nomination ballot voting ends online – 5 p.m. PT, Wednesday, January 6, 2027 • Final nominees in each category announced – Tuesday, January 12, 2027 • Nominee listing error and omission deadline – Friday, January 22, 2027 • Final voting ends online – 5 p.m. PT, Thursday, February 18, 2027 • 63rd Annual CAS Awards – Saturday, March 6, 2027 • Applications for the Jeffrey S. Wexler Award for Advancement in Sound Technology are due by June 30, 2026.
