Among his many ventures, he is credited with creating Guitar Center's GC Pro division, serving as Director of Strategic Development at Vintage King, and worked in collaboration with Avid and Sweetwater Sound, to name a few. In 2016, he became VP/audio team director for integrator Advanced Systems Group where his knowledge and experience across multiple facets of the pro audio industry were utilized daily. Many memories of Tom and thanks for his help in opening doors to the industry have been shared across social media. The CAS shares our condolences to Tom's family, friends, and colleagues. Steve "Maz" Maslow CAS Renowned re-recording mixer Steve Maslow CAS passed away in April after a battle with cancer. With Academy Award wins for The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Speed, and four additional nominations for Dune, Waterworld, Twister, and U-571, his hands and ears sculpted soundtracks enjoyed by millions. Starting his career in the entertainment industry in 1969 as a roadie for the band Strawberry Alarm Clock, Maz moved into engineering for dozens of groups and received platinum records for songs such as The Four Seasons' "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)." In 1978, he took his music mixing skills to the dub stage and transitioned to film re-record mixing with projects such as The Last Waltz, Hair, and Star Trek: The Motion Picture before going on a spree of Academy-recognized projects. Steve would go on to mix more than 200 films, 130 of them with longtime mixing partner Gregg Landaker. As tributes to Steve fill social media, the CAS expresses our deepest condolences to Steve's wife Ronna and their family and friends.
