C I N E M A A U D I O S O C I E T Y. O R G 75 The 2026 NAB Show The 2026 NAB Show has come and gone, and I felt a disturbance in the force. The show was lively, but attendance was down—even with 58,000 registrants— likely due to several factors. Price increases at the Las Vegas Convention Center, along with the increasing predator y pricing nature of the Las Vegas retailers in general, did not help. Recent travel cost increases affected attendees more than exhibitors, who were locked in months ago, but there were fewer attendees, and that's the raison d'être of the expo. The contraction in the film industr y seems to have had an impact; runaway production and the general lack of domestic production have had a big impact on manufacturers and retailers alike. I didn't see ever ything, having missed Sanken in the Nor th Hall, but here are some of the new and upcoming products showing up in the market that piqued my interest. We live in an amazing time for technology in motion picture production. Cheap spectrum analyzers, easy frequency optimizing in wireless, super wideband wireless, near real-time raw content transmission to post, miniaturization, intelligent spectrum management tools, advanced microphone designs, and more and more Dante integration. So, in no par ticular order, here are some tools you may find useful if you have work to make purchasing wor thwhile. b y G . J o h n G a r r e t t C A S
