4 • LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2022 L E T T E R FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear MeMbers, As the summer ends and we move into fall, it's a reminder to all of us that a new season brings new beginnings and a chance to measure the year's accomplishments and celebrate our ever-growing LMGI community. It's been quite a year for the LMGI, marked by a slow return to normalcy and people returning to public events. This was dramatically illustrated in July with the LMGI's reappearance to a packed room of eager attendees at our 10th-year Guild panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, CA. We topped that off in August with the return to the in-person 9th Annual LMGI Awards show. It was heartwarming to see a full house of old friends and wonderful new ones who all made the trip to Los Angeles to celebrate the best of what we do. It truly was an incredible night. There's nothing like being back in a room full of enthusiastic colleagues sharing the energy and revelry of community. We have our LMGI/DGC BC event in September, continuing a fall chockfull of international Fam Trip opportunities and educational outreach you'll hear about in the next issue of LMGI Compass . If you are interested in participating in Fam Trips or educational outreach programs and haven't updated your membership dashboard profile to indicate it, I would strongly suggest doing so. It is how we know who to put forward for consideration by the various event planners. The educational outreach programs in particular, while a commitment, are a key element of expanding and strengthening our LMGI community into new regions and "paying it forward" to the next location professional generation. There are big things ahead in 2023. It will be the 10th anniversary of our awards show and the 20th anniversary of the founding of the LMGI. Please keep an eye open for date announcements, mark your calendars and plan to attend. We'd love for everyone to come out to celebrate our LMGI community at this milestone anniversary. Cheers to the next LMGI season and to what's to come.
