LMGI COMPASS
|
Fall 2022
IN THE
NEWS
Aer two years of virtual
programming, we were
back again for the
10th consecutive year
The "LMGI Hollywood
Location Scouts" panel
was part of incredible
programming at Comic-Con
International in San Diego.
It was amazing to be able to
come back in-person. The
organizers did a phenomenal
job in keeping all the
attendees COVID-safe.
Concerns about how many
fans would attend the panel
with the threat of a new
COVID surge were quickly
dissipated when the panelists
found themselves in a room
packed with eager attendees
wanting to listen and learn
from them.
Moderated by LMGI
President John Rakich
(See,
Shadowhunters) the
LMGI panel highlighted
the incredible work of our
membership, featuring
members Michael Buonanno
(
Hawkeye, Spider-Man: Far
From Home),
Shasta Kinney
Fortin (Westworld,
Snowfall),
Jason Nolan (Ghostbusters:
Afterlife, Wynonna Earp),
Zachary Quemore (Obi-
Wan Kenobi, The Matrix:
Resurrections)
and Julieta
Rey del Castillo (Ms.
Marvel,
The Suicide Squad).
Panelists started with an
incredible sizzle reel, featuring
work focusing on before-and-
after comparisons of various
locations set to one of the
most unique and perfect
musical pairings we've done
to date. The panelists spoke in
length about the creative and
logistical challenges they've
had in their careers.
Jason Nolan noted, "Comic-
Con was a lot more than I
expected. The experience of
walking around and being
a part of something with
100,000 like-minded people
was incredible. The panel was
fantastic. Meeting the fans
who watch our shows and
the interest they have in what
we do both creatively and
logistically is inspiring. It was
also great to share war stories
with my colleagues. It truly
makes you realize we all do
the same thing and deal with
the same issues regardless of
where in the world we work."
Rey del Castillo said, "The
opportunity to be a part of
the LMGI panel was a dream
come true for me. Looking
out and seeing a room
filled with people who are
truly interested about the
location scouting process,
the logistics behind every
project, and the overall scope
of what it is we really do was
an honor. My only wish is that
we would have had a longer
panel to accommodate
more questions from the
audience."
This year's panel was
generously sponsored by
the following companies to
whom huge thanks are owed
for making this possible:
Big Bear Lake Film Office,
LMGI at Comic-Con
L-R: President John Rakich, Shasta Kinney Fortin, Michael Buonanno, Jason Nolan,
Zachary Quemore and Julieta Rey del Castillo.
