6 • LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2022 CONTRIBUTORS Jared Cowan Jared Cowan is based in L.A. and has been fascinated by cinema and filming locations since he was a kid. He loves locations so much that he proposed to his wife on the world famous steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art featured in Rocky. Jared is a journalist and photographer who has written extensively on the subject of L.A. filming locations for publications, including Los Angeles Magazine, L.A. TACO and LA Weekly. He is the co-founder of My Valley Pass, through which he programs location- based film screenings and leads film tours of the San Fernando Valley, Pasadena and the historic Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena. His podcast, On Location with Jared Cowan, features interviews with filmmakers recorded on-site at the locations from their movies; it can be found on Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud. LLC LLC Diane Friedman Diane grew up in New York and, with a background in art and photography, began her career in San Francisco working in cable and broadcast television. As a Los Angeles-based Local 399 location manager and scout for almost 30 years, she is proud to be a founding Board member of the Guild. For the past several years, she has been the co-chair of the LMGI Awards Committee for Television and is a co-editor on the Compass magazine. She treasures all the friendships and working relationships she has had over the years and values every opportunity to promote the work we do.
