NAB 2022 www.postmagazine.com 31 POST MAY/JUNE 2022 BLACKMAGIC DESIGN INTRODUCES THREE CLOUD SOLUTIONS FREMONT, CA — Blackmagic Design (https://www.blackmagicdesign.com) showed a number of cloud solutions at the recent NAB show in Las Vegas. The com- pany's Cloud Store is a high performance network storage solution with four 10G Ethernet connections and a parallel memory core that can sustain maximum possible transfer speeds on each 10G Ethernet port, all at the same time. Cloud Store is available in 20TB, 80TB and 320TB configu ations, and allows editors, colorists, VFX artists and audio engineers to work together in DaVinci Resolve on the same project at the same time. Available in Q2, pricing will start at $9,595. The Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini, which is now available ($2,995), is a network storage solution with the high performance of 4 M.2 flash memory in a RAID 0 configu ation. With its built-in 10G Ethernet, the Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini is extremely fast, allowing multiple users to collaborate on video editing in software such as DaVinci Resolve. By using Dropbox sync, multiple units can be synchronized across different geograph- ic locations. HDMI monitoring output allows for viewing live status of the memory core. Blackmagic's Cloud Pod uses any USB-C disk as network storage, allowing customers to build their own network storage using USB-C flash disks th y already own. Features include high speed 10G Ethernet and Dropbox sync, so customers can cache files locally and sha e them with everyone on their net- work. An HDMI monitoring output allows for realtime viewing of the network storage status. Cloud Pod is available now for $395. ELEMENTS BOOSTS BOLT NVME APPLIANCE'S PERFORMANCE DUSSELDORF, GERMANY — Elements (elements.tv), a high-performance, me- dia-storage specialist, showed a prototype of its BoltNVMe storage appliance at the NAB show in Las Vegas. The new revision boasts updated hardware to deliver increased performance. Bolt offers the advantage of delivering consistently-high performance in de- manding applications right across post production, at resolutions up to 8K. Because it is a large capacity device — 300TB of high-performance shared stor- age in a single 2U chassis — it means data managers do not need to worry about optimizing the alloca- tion strategy for power users in VFX and grading. "We know that video professionals and post production facilities just want to get on with their creative workfl ws," explains André Kamps, CEO of Elements. "We originally conceived Bolt to give them the performance they need, while eliminating the tiresome business of managing storage and moving files f om disk to NVMe." The new version of Bolt keeps the high capacity, but dramatically boosts data delivery. At 25GB/s per chassis, Bolt was already 10x faster than traditional NVMe devices. Now, thanks to an updated hard- ware platform, built on PCIe 4.0, it can deliver up to 70GB/s, meaning it can easily sustain a large team of demanding users. "Developments in IT technology mean that we can now give Bolt a huge speed bump, making it even better for organizations," explains Elements' CTO, Heiner Lesaar. "And along with the incredible performance, it still consumes only around a tenth the power of a regular, disk-based 300TB shared-storage device. Better performance. Simpler operation. Good for the environment."
