13. INCEPTION: JULY 16. LEONARDO DICAPRIO The feature film business is not a good industry if you are looking for any degree of stability or guarantee of returns. But this film is proof that sometimes Hollywood makes sure that it gets it right. With a driector who brought Batman back to life and the most incredible actor of our generation, "Inception" is sure to be a powerhouse this summer. As you can tell from the previews, the film is a bit out there in terms of concept. In this world, there are agents who can enter your subconscious and extract ideas that are critical towards some end. However, the story focuses on DiCaprio's character not trying to extract thoughts but to plant and create new ones. Where many directors might fumble with this high-concept film, we have a director with an incredible track-record who is sure to bring a crisp and thrilling plot to life. 14. DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS: JULY 23. STEVE CARELL AND PAUL RUDD Ever feel like you are being used for someone else's agenda? Me neither. But it serves as an appropriate hook. This movie is all about being taken advantage of, when Paul Rudd's character, a savy executive, uses Steve Carell's character, an oblivious goof, to win a competition between other executives. If you think it is mean spirited, it's no surpise—it is a remake of a French film. Steve Carell has almost been typecast as the idiot. But as opposed to other actor's who get typecast into a certain character, we all love Steve Carell and want to see him be the bumbling and completely naïve hero. The film also has Jay Roach behind the camer who brought us Meet the Parents films and Austin Powers films, so we know that there are some quality comedy pieces attached to this. 15. SALT: JULY 23. ANGELINA JOLIE This is the "on the run to clear my name" film that pops up every couple years. The difference here is that Angelina Jolie is smoking hot and kicks ass. As a top CIA officer, the gun is turned on her as she finds herself running from the same agency she loyally served. Jolie is one of those actresses whose talent matches her fame, as opposed to, say, Paris Hilton. With Jolie as the hub of this film, the audience is bound to get their share of action and sexiness coupled with a quality performance by Jolie. 16. THE DEATH AND LIFE OF CHARLIE ST. CLOUD: JULY 30. ZAC EFRON Around the time this film opens, it will be half-way through summer. A time to reflect on what you have done and what you will do. It is a time to consider the truly important things in life like love and family. "St. Cloud" is that sentimental film that will bring audiences together in its warmth and character. Better yet, "St. Cloud" will be the first time we will see Zac Efron in a new light—a serious and dramatic role. Efron's character, Charlie St. Cloud, loses his brother in a tragic accident. Distraught, Charlie has difficulty forgiving himself. But soon after, Charlie gets the surprise of his life when his brother reappears. The film then follows this tension between the past, and his brother's memory, with the present and the potential future that is restrained by the past.
