His early work on In the Soup and The Ballad of Little Jo earned great attention, leading to collaborations with a variety of independent mavericks like Mira Nair, Ang Lee, Ed Harris, Todd Haynes, Jim Jarmusch, Wes Anderson, Julie Taymor, Jodie Foster and Charlie Kaufman. Friedberg explored his interest in comedy on studio projects such as Runaway Bride, New Year's Eve, Kate & Leopold, as well as Mel Brook's The Producers. Friedberg also designed the pilot for Sex and the City. Other recent films include Noah, Selma, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, followed by his close friend Jim Jarmusch's Paterson. Upcoming films include Untouchable and Wonderstruck.
