22 P E R S P E C T I V E | N OV E M B E R / D E C E M B E R 2 0 1 7 news THE ADG AT COMIC-CON by Rick Markovitz For eleven years, the ADG has participated in the Comic-Con International: San Diego and each year its involvement has grown, so much so that the Con organizers today consider the Guild a core participant. Our three panels attracted packed rooms, attended by knowledgeable fans. The Production Designers panelists, with moderator John Muto, were responsible for some of the biggest and best motion pictures in the genre. They were Oliver Scholl (Spider-Man: Homecoming), François Audouy (Logan), Hannah Beachler (Black Panther) and Stefan Dechant (Kong: Skull Island). For the second year, the Art Directors Guild shared a table in the gigantic exhibition hall with the Costume Designers Guild. The ADG's Wonder Woman costume, on loan from Warner Bros., attracted a lot of attention while illustrators took turns working on the Wacom Cintiq interactive display and tablet. With two of our panelists involved in the making of Black Panther, the big hit of the Con, and Wonder Woman's presence throughout the weekend while her costume resided at our table, the ADG was in the mix at one of the world's largest popular culture happenings.
