Stepping into his shoes has been a dive into the deep end of the frying pan, and it has only been with the contributions of associate editor Katie Shipley and the talents and wisdom at IngleDodd Media, that we have an issue that holds up the traditions and quality expected of the publication. I took on the job as editor because I believe in the mission of the journal. As a working Art Director, I always looked over the current issue as a way to be informed of what my colleagues were up to and to admire the work being done by our Guild and in our field. A few years ago, I segued into teaching the subject at San Diego State University, and it gave me an increased appreciation of the magazine as both an instructional tool and a chronicle of record for our profession. In the coming issues, I will make sure the journal continues to showcase the work of Guild members, inform them about the work being done in all areas of design that involve our skills, and document important landmarks and changes in our industry. This magazine only thrives because of the contributions of the artists who share their work and stories. We are continually on the lookout for ideas and content of interest to our readers. Anyone who has a topic or project they would like see covered or featured; I encourage you to contact me at editor.perspective.dm@gmail.com.
