Fund for Teachers Grants Now Available for 2014 Summer Learning: Teachers committed to expanding their knowledge and increasing student engagement are invited to apply for 2014 Fund for Teachers grants. These grants allow Pre-K-12 teachers to design and pursue summer learning experiences to meet specific learning gaps—theirs and/or their students'. As a result, teachers (or Fellows) return to classrooms with insights, energy, and abilities that directly advance student achievement. Last year marked the first time that Wyoming teachers were eligible for Fund for Teachers grants; a list of those teachers completing fellowships last summer is available online at: http://www.fundforteachers.org/ mini-posters/2013/Wyoming-2013.pdf. Fund for Teachers partners with the John P. Ellbogen Foundation to administer the grants in Wyoming. Teachers may apply for individual grants up to $5,000; teams, up to $10,000. The online application is due by 5 pm, January 30, 2014. Examples of previous fellowships, the scoring rubric and online application are available at http://www.fundforteachers.org.  Wyoming School-University Partnership Offers Unique PD Opportunity The Wyoming School-University Partnership's "Lost in Transition" initiative offers unique professional development opportunities that provide high school, community college, and university faculty opportunities to discuss the difficult student transition from high school to higher education. Participants work together toward the common goal of student success. Participants share an example of student work, or sometimes, assignments, assessments, or textbooks from their classrooms. Each meeting has a topic relevant to current trends in education, including discussion of the Common Core State Standards. All of the workshops are free and include meals. Registration is required and will be available about a month before each meeting. Participants or their home institutions are responsible for any lodging or travel. PTSB credit is generally offered for each meeting. The following meetings are scheduled for this spring:  • • • • February 21, 2014: Life Sciences Lost in Transition Summit—Douglas March 4, 2014: World Languages Lost in Transition Colloquium—Rock Springs April 3-4, 2014: Mathematics Lost in Transition Institute—Powell April 13-14, 2014: Teaching Writing in Wyoming Lost in Transition Colloquium—Rock Springs To register or to learn more about these and other Partnership initiatives:  http://www.uwyo.edu/wsup/ Questions?
