WEA Budget Hearings by WEA Treasurer Jon VanOverbeke The WEA Budget Hearings, which have been a part of the Region Retreats for several years, were conducted differently this year. Many members have asked how the budget priorities and the dollar amounts allocated into each are decided upon. This has been the purview of the Program and Budget Committee. So, in order to obtain more member input into the WEA Budget, President Vetter and I decided to ask three questions at the Budget Hearings that we hoped would gather information from our members as to what they wanted in the Proposed Budget. The three questions that were asked are: 1. What are your priorities for the WEA Budget? 2. What would you like to see remain in the budget of the WEA? 3. What would you like to see taken out of the budget of the WEA? The participants at the retreats gave us lots of input which will be used when the Program and Budget Committee starts to build the Proposed Budget for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. If you were unable to attend a Region Retreat and participate in the process, there is still time. E-mail me your responses to the three questions, and the Committee will use them when we meet in January. My e-mail is jvanoverbeke@nea.org.
