Olsen Is Chosen As Grammy Music Educator of the Year Congratulations to Hot Springs Education Association/ WEA member Dustin Olsen, who has been chosen as one of the top 25 semifinalists for the Grammy Music Educator of the Year Award! A total of 25 music teachers from 24 cities across 15 states have been announced as semifinalists for the Music Educator Award presented by The Recording Academy® and the GRAMMY Foundation®. In total, more than 30,000 initial nominations were submitted from all 50 states. The 10 finalists will be announced in December, with the winner crowned during GRAMMY® Week 2014. WEA Helps WDE The WEA partners with the Wyoming Department of Education for many different opportunities regarding public education in Wyoming. Wyoming Department of Education Public Information Officer Tom Lacock sets up for an interview with Wyoming Education Association member Craig Williams. WEA staff and members continue to partner with many associations, organizations, and agencies throughout Wyoming. Healthy partnerships will only improve and grow education for students in Wyoming. WEA Members Published in "The Journal of School Nursing" Leanna Lovato and Margarita F. Granthom are WEA members and school nurses from Sweetwater County School District Number One in Rock Springs, WY. Lovato and Granthom collaborated with Perry Zirkel, Ph.D., J.D., LLM, Professor of Education and Law at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, to write an article that was published in The Journal of School Nursing in December 2012. According to the article's abstract in the Journal, "Section 504 and Student Health Problems: The Pivotal Position of the School Nurse" "… provides a comprehensive synthesis of recent case law and related legal developments under [Section 504] and [the ADA], culminating in practical implications and professional recommendations for school nurses."
