JULY 2010 HEALTH & HAPPINESS 40 HOME & GARDEN : HOME TOUR The work the Egglestons have put into their home is enough to win them awards, but arguably the most awe-inspiring aspect of their residence came with the property. Standing majestically at approximately 70 feet is a Cedar tree, that is roughly 85-years- old and five feet in diameter. Miraculously, Marji said some people need two takes before recognizing the beautiful slice of nature in front of their eyes. "The tree is so big they don't see it," Marji said. "We found early on that people blow right by it." The Egglestons said they love their Southwestern-themed home in Southern California, but the couple recently took its love of Santa Fe to another level by purchasing a home there in 2009. Knowing they would eventually retire to the desert, the duo took a chance when the housing market lowered, and currently lease their Santa Fe residence until it is time to make a full-time move, which could be as soon as next summer, Lonny said. "It's a great double-adobe home," Lonny said. "It's a step down from this home, but that's what we would do in retirement." n "It originated with all of our trips to Santa Fe. Every time we would go there, we would love all the artwork and the furniture. We just love that particular style."—Lonny Eggleston LONNY & MARJI EGGLESTON IN WINE CELLAR
