X WEA at Work 16 Winter 2018 | wyoea.edu WEA Welcomes Amanda Turner to the Communications Department The WEA Communications Department serves an important role in keeping WEA members informed about the advocacy work being done on your behalf, as well as providing our membership with valuable information about legislative happenings and the political landscape as it relates to educators. WEA is fortunate to announce the hiring of our new part- time Communications Specialist, Amanda Turner. A Colorado native, Amanda has lived in Wyoming for almost fi ve years. She began her career in broadcast television, fi rst interning at FOX31 in Denver and then working as a producer, reporter, videographer, editor and anchor at Five Points Media Center, Colorado Public News and Comcast's Aurora Channel 8. Amanda proudly worked as Primetime Evening Anchor/Producer at CBS NewsChannel5 in Cheyenne for two years, before moving into residential real estate and outside sales. Amanda is ecstatic at the opportunity to use her background in communications to share stories from member classrooms across Wyoming, and keep WEA members in the know. When she's not busy in the communications department, you will fi nd Amanda traveling lovely Wyoming with her trusty DSLR in-hand, lifting weights, reading great books, and enjoying time with her husband Jesse, their 3-year- old son, Wynn and their two ornery bulldogs. We always welcome ideas from our membership! If you have a story, an issue, or information that you would like highlighted and shared with WEA members, please reach out to Amanda at aturner@wyoea.org.
