He will be a freshman at Northwestern University in the fall, majoring in anthropology on a pre-med track. Lukas has thoughts of possibly pursuing pre- med and becoming a doctor. He enjoys reading. Hemingway is his favorite author. He also loves studying French, painting and architectural drawing. Lukas has kept a high GPA all through high school. He tries to balance all his activities with also playing and watching all sports. He has been a starter on the varsity tennis team at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica all four of his high school years. Volunteering has not eluded Lukas. He volunteered at the North Richmond Community Health Center in Australia when he was on a two-week break before his senior year. He participated in a wide range of both research and clinical studies. During the school year, he volunteered at The Boys and Girls Club of LA. There, he assisted students with schoolwork, helped set up various activities and chaperoned field trips. Lukas has faced some personal challenges during his high school years. He says, with great support from close family and friends, he has been able to, and I quote: "Pick myself up, put one foot in front of another and walk toward the glowing orb at the end of the tunnel." Indeed, Lukas, you are on your way to a glowing college career at Northwestern! We wish you only THE BEST! Henry Haprov is the son of ADG member Julia Levine, Set Designer. Henry will be a senior at UCLA in the fall, majoring in geography and environmental studies with a geographic information systems minor. (Say that 3X fast!) Henry, now a two-time ADG Scholarship Award winner, modeled the change of snowmelt in the Eastern Sierra/Nevada Mt. Range AND analyzed the consequences of rent control in Los Angeles. This was all part of his course work. Henry also interned at UCLA Radio as a member of The Marketing and Intern Coordinator Team. Here, he learned about the entertainment industry. He had his own on-air radio show, contributed to their magazine and blog, and helped produce promotional videos for SoCal media platforms. Henry also volunteers fifteen hours a week as the volunteer coordinator for the Santa Monica Farmers Markets. He is responsible for ensuring sufficient volunteer support at each of the four markets that 15,000-plus customers frequent each week. He also conducts research on how to improve the volunteer program. Henry feels this is a gratifying experience, where his efforts help boost only one of the many LA communities with which he identifies. Somehow, Henry managed a high GPA this past year, despite his busy schedule! He claims a passion for making the world a better place is what drives him to excel. He is dedicated to helping improve local LA communities. We applaud you, Henry! We bid you well as you embark on your senior year of college at UCLA. LUKAS MITCHELL HENRY HAPROV
