An exclusive hospital for criminals is tucked into
the penthouse level of a decaying Downtown Los
Angeles hotel, one long past its deco glory days.
It's ten years from now; LA is in the middle of the
worst riots it's ever seen. A crew of thieves uses
the cover of that chaos to rob a bank, but things,
as they are wont to do, don't go as planned, and
they instead get caught up in the melee. One dies
A
and two are seriously wounded, leaving the guy
smart enough to wear a Kevlar vest with just one
option—to call the only person he can to help his
wounded brother: The Nurse in that hospital at the
top of Hotel Artemis. He gets them there, and in one
night, in hotel filled with crooks, things, as The
Nurse pithily spits, go "to hell in a hand basket full
of shit and blood."
