It's ten years from now; LA is in the middle of the worst riots it's ever seen. A crew of thieves uses the cover of that chaos to rob a bank, but things, as they are wont to do, don't go as planned, and they instead get caught up in the melee. One dies A and two are seriously wounded, leaving the guy smart enough to wear a Kevlar vest with just one option—to call the only person he can to help his wounded brother: The Nurse in that hospital at the top of Hotel Artemis. He gets them there, and in one night, in hotel filled with crooks, things, as The Nurse pithily spits, go "to hell in a hand basket full of shit and blood."
