Spring 2018 The Costume Designer 57 IN FOCUS BOLDFACE NAMES BFN - WORK CD Ami Goodheart's on Justin Timberlate's Supplies video 2018 got off to an exhilarating start for CD Ami Goodheart designing Justin Timberlake's Supplies music video, the second single from his comeback album. Directed by the much-awarded Dave Meyers, the video highlighted multiple political movements, including the Women's March where Goodheart included her custom "Pussy Grabs Back" T-shirt on an extra. Meyers liked the tee so much he featured the girl wearing it in a close-up scene lifting a car. In all, Goodheart and her team costumed a range of characters, including 320 humans and two alligators. The alligators were a big surprise. Goodheart always presents detailed mood boards at the start of a project. For the White Elite scene, she collected images of albino animals to show textures of the materials and fabrics she would like to use, including a photo of an albino alligator to add "just the right vibe and a surrealist element." Then, at 3 a.m. on the last shoot night on set, Goodheart heard someone say, "Flying in alligators." She ran to the director and asked, "You flew in alligators? It was an inspiration image—you weren't supposed to take it literally!" The reptiles were overnighted from Florida. Needless to say, the bloggers were buzzing when Supplies premiered. CD Olivia Miles and ACD Alexa Newman express great gratitude to their producers who fought to keep The CW's untitled April Blair drama pilot in Los Angeles where they feel it belongs—after all, the city is really a character in its own right. Inspired by the life of pro football player Spencer Paysinger, the story follows a rising high school football player from South Central L.A. as he is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High. Directed by Rob Hardy and produced by L.A. Galaxy soccer player Robbie Rogers, the dynamic cast includes Taye Diggs, Daniel Ezra, Monet Mazur, and Bre-Z. Miles says the large cast, football uniforms, and on-point fashion kept the design team running for the 12-day shoot.
