10 The Costume Designer Spring 2018 LET'S TALK EMMY! UNION LABEL Yes, it's that time of year again! Submissions are in and voting begins in mid-June! All current Television Academy members have begun receiving the avalanche of DVDs and FYC (For Your Consideration) viewing platforms. Campaigns are underway and we're OFF! "Enquiring Minds Want to Know!" A small collection of Television Academy Emmy information folders are available in the Guild Offices on a first-come, first-serve basis. The folders contain easy answers to frequently asked questions such as costs, campaigning, DVDs vs FYC platforms (the smart, economical, and green way to campaign!), team eligibility, as well as many other details. We do have some new rules and procedures to be carefully considered. The vast number and increased diversity of submissions has dictated the need for restructuring some of the rules. An ongoing process, we have worked to keep the playing field even and fair for everyone. Please take that into consideration and have your submission entered in the appropriate area. For the complete rules and procedures, go to emmys.com/awards. We are happy and proud to announce our Costume Category now has four award categories: 1. Outstanding Period Costumes (now separate from Fantasy) 2. Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes (now its own area) 3. Outstanding Contemporary Costumes 4. Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Non-Fiction or Reality Programming For your deadline and date concerns, the complete calendar is available at emmys.com. Under the "Awards" menu, you will find the complete "Awards Calendar." For now, here's a brief schedule of important dates: May 10: Deadline to apply for new membership to be eligible to vote (now closed). May 31: Deadline for lapsed members to reinstate their membership and be eligible to vote this year. June 11-25, 10 PM: Nomination Round voting period.
