12 86th WEA Delegate Assembly: Cheyenne, April 6 - 8, 2018 ree Wyoming Schools Honored in Blue Ribbon Program WEA sincerely congratulates the hard work of the staff and students at three Wyoming schools recently named by the U.S. Department of Education (USED) as National Blue Ribbon Schools. We wish to honor: • Burlington Elementary School, Big Horn County School District #1 • Sheridan Junior High School, Sheridan County School District #2 • Woodland Park Elementary School, Sheridan County School District #2 According to the USED, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students achieve very high learning standards or are making notable improvements in closing the achievement gap. All schools are honored in one of two performance categories, based on all student scores, subgroup student scores and graduation rates: • Exemplary High Performing Schools are among their state's highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests. • Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools are among their state's highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a school's subgroups and all students over the past five years. All three of the Wyoming schools won in the category of Exemplary High Performing Schools. To read more about each one, click on the individual school links on the Blue Ribbon Schools page of the WDE Website: edu.wyoming.gov/in-the-classroom/federal-programs/blue-ribbon-schools/.
