66 { THE SOMM JOURNAL } DECEMBER/JANUARY 2017/2018 Roederer Estate celebrates its 35th anni- versary this year, so it seemed an appropri- ate time to get some perspective from two people with a long history at the company. Arnaud Weyrich, Roederer Estate's VP of Production and Winemaker, began his career straight out of college as an intern at Roederer Estate in 1993. Bob Gibson, Director of Vineyard Operations, has been shepherding the company's viticultural pro - gram since 1985. Over a multi-vintage tast- ing of L'Ermitage, we discussed Roederer Estate' s history, as well as the winemaking and viticultural philosophies behind the winery's tête de cuvée.
