NAB 2017 A LOOK BACK AT THE 2017 SHOW BY LINDA ROMANELLO AND MARC LOFTUS ith a reported attendance of more than 102,000 and 1,806 exhibitors spanning 1,091,792 net square feet of exhibit space in all three halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center, there was certainly plenty to see at the 2017 NAB Show last month. As usual, the Post editorial team walked the show floor, seeking out the newest and most interesting new products, technologies and solutions for our annual "Post Picks" awards and Honorable Mentions, reported in this issue on page 13, and reported on here in our post-show coverage. Post TV was also in full swing during the first day of the show, from Post's booth on the exhibition floor. As always, we were speaking with some of the industry's leaders about what their focus was at this year's show and what they thought would generate some of the biggest buzz. Here's a look at some of the highlights from the floor. AVID INTRODUCES NEW NEXIS Avid (www.avid.com) announced the upcoming availability of the latest version of Avid NEXIS, its software-defined storage platform for media. With the latest software release, Avid NEXIS and Avid NEXIS | Pro systems will provide fast, efficient and reliable workflows for realtime media produc- tion, including professional post production and broadcast environments. It also introduces new collaborative shared-storage workflows for profes- sional audio production, with support for Avid Pro Tools. For larger post and broadcast environments, Avid NEXIS enterprise-class storage systems (E5, E4 and E2) offer greater performance for finishing and specialized media workflows, providing up to 28 GB/s of bandwidth with new high-performance storage groups. For smaller environments, Avid NEXIS | Pro professional-class storage provides comprehen- sive collaborative capabilities while also deliv- ering realtime 4K performance at up to 2.4GB/s at a cost-effective price point.
