The gathering in the Guild's New York offices was designed for members of this category to exchange ideas with their colleagues and chart developments since the same meeting last year. The event was also a forum where they could have their voices heard and discuss topics relating to their profession. Following the welcome, Committee Co-Chairs Arianne Apicelli, Dana Zolli and John Silvestri outlined the schedule for the meeting. Then the assembly broke into smaller groups moderated by Second AD Committee members where they answered questions and engaged in roundtable discussions featuring topics such as staffing on additional shooting units, mentoring, and ideas for future training modules. DGA staff members were also available to answer questions.. Photos: 1. Modelled after the similar training held in New York last October, the event helped these members brush up on the essential skills required to successfully do the job of a Key Second Assistant Director, Second Second Assistant Director or Additional Second Assistant Director. 1st AD Jason Inman and 2nd ADs Yor-El Francis and Kristina Peterson guided the participants through a day that covered the job of the Second Second AD in the morning session and the duties and responsibilities of the Key Second AD during the afternoon segment. DGA Senior Field Representative Bart Daudelin was also on hand to answer questions. Both sessions were constructed so that all the attendees had ample opportunity to ask questions specific to their needs and the participants were able to network with their peers during the lunch break.
