NAB 2017 NEWS www.postmagazine.com 38 POST MARCH 2017 TEKTRONIX'S WAVEFORM MONITOR TARGETS 4K/UHD/HDR WORKFLOWS BEAVERTON, OR — Tektronix's (www.tek.com) waveform monitors are designed for those working in production and post of 4K, UHD and HDR content. The WFM8000 series 4K HDR waveform monitors enable the creation of 4K HDR content starting from content acquisition in production trucks or studio applications to color grading or correction in post production applications, ensuring the highest level of content quality with images that deliver a highly realistic viewing experience. HDR features include graticules specifically set up for 18 percent grey (20NITS) and 90 percent reflective white (100NITS) for easy adjustments to correct grey and white points of content, which is essential in HDR applications. Other HDR capa- bilities include support for both SMPTE ST 2084 standard and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) as per the ARIB ST B-67 standard, and support for a wide selection of cam- era log curves adopted by various camera manufacturers, including S-Log, S-Log 2, S-Log 3, C-Log and Log-C. The new HDR capabilities can easily be added to existing WFM/ WVR8000 series products with the purchase of 'Option Prod' (a field upgradeable software-only option). Customers with a valid software op- tion key license for Prod can upgrade their WFM/WVR8000 instruments free-of-charge with the new firm- ware, which can be downloaded from the company's Website. SONNET TO DEBUT NEW DUAL CARD READER LINE IRVINE, CA — Sonnet Technologies Inc. (www.sonnettech. com) will introduce the first product in its new SF3 Series of Thunderbolt 3 pro media readers at this April's NAB Show in Las Vegas. The SF3 Series' CFast 2.0 card reader features dual card slots and a 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3 interface. It can ingest files from two cards at concurrent data transfer speeds up to 1,000MB/s, which is more than double the average ingest speed of USB 3 card readers. The compact CFast 2.0 card reader is bus-powered with no power adapter required. Each member of the SF3 Series family will feature dual card slots, a Thunderbolt 3 interface, and a rug- ged aluminum enclosure designed for stacking multiple readers. At the NAB 2017, Sonnet will also preview upcoming models in the product family, including an SxS reader. PRONOLOGY TO DEBUT SCREENER NEW YORK — Pronology (www.pronology.com) is introducing Screener, a multi-channel, file-based production-screening device that records univer- sally playable MP4 files. Specifically aimed at directors, producers and other industry professionals working in studio, mobile, sporting and a variety of other environments, Screener replaces legacy DVD recorders that have been traditionally used for screening and offers a wealth of additional features that are useful for modern production. Creating universally playable MP4 files, Screener is unique in that it is not solely a screening device. It can also visually watermark with text or graph- ics, record a timecode overlay, run on a standard PC or other off-the-shelf hardware and offers multiple channels per installation. It allows for HD-SDI playback functionality in multiple resolutions and can create sub-clips. This allows operators to extract timecode-specific portions of a recording that can easily be viewed as well as securely shared for review and approval. Screener enables users to copy clips to network storage paths and removable stor- age devices, primarily USB 3 thumbdrives. Screener is based on the same basic architecture as Pronology's mRes encoder, but is a scaled-down version specifically designed to accom- modate MP4 files for low-res viewing/screening applications. DPA TO SHOW OFF WIRELESS MIC SOLUTIONS LONGMONT, CO — With the industry migrating towards a wireless workflow, DPA Microphones (www.dpamicrophones.com), among other offerings, will showcase its GSM4000 Gooseneck Shock Mount Accessory and MMP-G Modular Active Cable for MicroDot. The GSM4000 Gooseneck Shock Mount Accessory is designed with an elegant clip at its end where the d:dicate capsule can be easily mounted with a preamp connected to it. It features integrated shock mount technology to ensure the perfect sound is achieved and not affected by handling noise. The GSM4000, which is available in black and is 11.5 cm (4.5 in) long, can be set up in a variety of different positions. DPA's MMP-G Modular Active Cable is an ultra-transparent preamplifier with active drive for impedance balancing to reject frequency interference. It permits the modular d:dicate capsules, including the d:di- cate 4017 Shotgun Capsule or 4018 Supercardioid Capsule for booming applications, to connect to wireless systems with its fixed MicroDot connec- tor. Available in two variations, the MMP-GR cable extends from the rear while the MMP-GS cable ex- tends from the side. In addition, users have the op- tion to use the new MMP-G Modular Active Cable for wireless workflows or the existing MMP-E Modular Active Cable for wired productions.
