Bremerton Wines Bremerton Wines was established in 1988 at Langhorne Creek, one of Australia's oldest and most reliable wine grape regions. The estate consists of 120 hectares (296 acres) of vineyard, mainly Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and a selection of other varieties. It became the first winery in Australia to be managed by sisters: Rebecca Willson (Chief Winemaker and Production Manager) and Lucy Willson (Marketing Manager). The Willson Sisters have taken Bremerton to become one of the best known brands from South Australia's Langhorne Creek wine region. It has its own modern winery and barrel storage facilities with wine production between 420,000 and 480,000 bottles annually. Langhorne Creek is recognized as a cool-climate region with low rainfall, disease-free and with adequate water supply for supplementary watering. Gatt Wines If good wine begins in the vineyard, it did not take much to persuade Ray Gatt to put his destiny in the hands of his viticultural team. Since he took possession of Eden Springs just in time for the 2006 vintage, Gatt has remained committed to the theory that the vineyard rules. There's no argument from Chief Winemaker David Norman either, who also trusts in the quality of fruit he will receive each year and to which he will add that final magical finish in the winery. Throw in Viticulturist Gil Rogers and his team, lovingly tending the vines, and the operation has crystallized into a spectacular success—not just at the cellar door but on the global stage. It was awarded best Cabernet/Cabernet blend at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in Hong Kong last year. Earlier this year one of its wines was ranked highest in the world across all major global blind tasting competitions. Mallee Estate Mallee Estate is a family-owned and -operated vineyard and winery established by Greek immigrants Peter and Eleni Markeas. In 1968 Peter and Eleni married and moved to Renmark where they bought their first farm and started their family. They grew wine grapes, apricots and peaches on their farm in the early years with a passion for wine and food. All wines are made from estate-grown grapes to ensure full quality control and traceability throughout the entire growing season. The estate, developed by the family company, consists of three vineyards at separate locations in Renmark to take advantage of the different soil types and to grow better and more distinctive grapes for winemaking. All the Mallee Estate vineyards are HACCP certified through SGS International. Sisters Rebecca and Lucy Willson at the Bremerton winery.
