HOTEL HAPPENINGS DISNEYLAND HOTEL EARNS PRESTIGIOUS AAA FOUR-DIAMOND AWARD Two Disneyland Resort Hotels are Anaheim's Only Four-Diamond Properties The American Automobile Association (AAA) has bestowed its coveted 2012 Four Diamond award upon the landmark Disneyland Hotel, making it the second property at the Disneyland Resort to secure such a high rating. "This award is a testament to the dramatic trans- formation that's taken place at the Disneyland Hotel over the last three years," said George Aguel, senior vice president for The Walt Disney Company. "We have completely re-imag- ined the hotel to create a professional environment for meetings and incentives, but added sophisticated touches that are uniquely Disney. This Four- Diamond rating comes on the heels of many other accolades from the meetings industry. Together they cement the Disneyland Resort's reputation as a premier meetings destination." Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is also a recipient of the AAA Four Diamond award rat- ing, having earned the distinction every year since 2002. The hotel's signature restaurant, Napa Rose, has also held Four-Diamond status since it opened in 2001. Transformation of the Disneyland Hotel over the last three years included a complete refurbishing of the hotel's 969 guest rooms, the addition of luxurious new themed suites, two new scenic outdoor event lawns, and redevelopment of the hotel's mas- sive recreation courtyard which includes a new water-recreation area and poolside restaurant and bar. Of special interest to meeting professionals, the hotel also features a 136,000-sq. ft. convention center. According to AAA, its Diamond-rating program is the only hotel-and-restaurant-review system in the nation that uses spe- cially trained full-time field representatives. As part of AAA's national network, the Auto Club's staff reviews establishments without prior notification using objective and detailed rating procedures. Through this process only four percent of the 31,000 hotel properties AAA reviews achieve the Four-Diamond distinction.
