The historic Domaine J. A. Ferret is located in Pouilly-Fuissé and was purchased by Jadot in 2008; the wines, beautifully crafted by Audrey Braccini, are part of an exciting rethinking of Chardonnay in the Mâconnais—richer, more stylish and ever more elegant. Château des Jacques, under wine- maker Guillaume de Castelnau, is in my opinion the finest producer of Beaujolais today. Don’t fail to get your hands on these wines. Domaine J. A. Ferret 2009 Pouilly- Fuissé Tête de Cru Le Clos ($45) Silky and luscious with mineral and sweet oak; ripe and creamy with a core of pure acidity; rich and long with balance and lovely style. 91 90 Château des Jacques 2009 Morgon ($20) Dense and minerally with a rich expression of the terroir; bold, masculine and tannic; lush and solid; long and intense.
