L astpage The Sweetest Place on Earth! H ey there! I'm Jenny the Dessert Darling, and after years of acting in film and television roles and producing comedic content at WhateverHollywood.com, I've transitioned to my true calling in life. . .writing about desserts! With my passion for desserts, discerning palette, and strong opinions, the Dessert Darling is my greatest role yet! There's been a surge of new bakeries popping up around town, and I realized that be- tween the Crumbs, Sprinkles, and Magnolias of the world, I had no idea who actually makes the best cupcake! What about milkshakes? Or donuts? If I'm a tourist in town, what are the tastiest treats that I must check out? What about a great date spot to share a bottle of wine and a truly sweet ending? Worry not, my friends, I've made it my duty to eat the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and have discovered three delicious Hollywood sweet spots along the way. Hollywood is a special town unlike any other in the world. It emits an electric energy from the collective dreams of aspiring writers, actors, producers, and other creative types. You can meander along the historic, star-studded Walk of Fame and reflect on the great stars of yesteryear, or look across the way to catch a red carpet event and see your favorite celebrities of today flashing brilliant smiles and waving to the crowd. Whether you're visiting Hollywood on vacation, or are a local Angeleno in need of a boost, I recommend Disney's Soda Fountain and Studio Store as a must-try. No one does happy like Disney, and with its prime location on Hollywood Boulevard, next to the El Capitan Theatre, this traditional soda fountain and cafe is the perfect spot to people-watch and absorb the heartbeat of Hollywood. The Disney Soda Fountain delights young and old alike with its old-fashioned bar, delicious sandwiches, and tempting array of soda fountain goodies. The shop features Dewar's ice cream, a family-owned, Southern California staple that's been around for over 100 years! Additionally, the Disney Soda Fountain sells the tastiest cupcakes from Yummy Cupcakes in Burbank, a bakery that won the coveted Golden Cherry award on my blog www.DessertDarling.com. Finally, their menu includes peppermint ice cream, malted milkshakes, banana splits, and build- it-yourself sundaes with options like marshmallow cream and gummy bears. Perhaps my favorite offering, though, is "Mickey's Masterpiece," an impressive creation that boasts eight large scoops of ice cream smothered in hot fudge, caramel, and marshmallow, topped with nuts, whipped cream, and cherries; all served on the brim of Mickey's iconic Sorcerer's cap. Wow - this masterpiece is an event in itself that must be celebrated with friends! Disney's Soda Fountain and Studio Store stays open until 11 pm on the weekends during the rest of the year. This dessert joint is the perfect spot to enjoy with friends and family, or as a post-movie date! For a more savory and intimate stop, I point you to Fabiolus Cafe, a cozy Italian restaurant on Sunset Boulevard with both indoor and outdoor dining options. Unlike the host of trendy restaurants in Hollywood that come and go in the blink of an eye, Fabiolus' Cafe has stood the test of time in Tinseltown, thriving for 18 years with its authentic Italian cuisine and charm. Enjoy a bottle of wine or perhaps a celebrity sighting, like Eva Longoria-Parker and pal Mario Lopez, who dined there during my last visit. To cap things off perfectly, I recommend the Tiramisu. Made with decaf coffee, vigorously whipped mascarpone cream, and topped with a generous layer of pure cocoa powder, this Tiramisu is one of the lightest, fluffiest, and freshest renditions in town. Finally, if you don't have time to sit down, you can still taste one of Hollywood's finest desserts by ordering a box of treats from Deluscious Cookies and Milk, located off Highland Avenue. Deluscious cookies are coveted desserts in Hollywood that count Courtney Cox and Reese Witherspoon as fans and are enjoyed on studio sets and in agents' offices alike. With 24 tempting flavors that are made with all-natural and fresh ingredients, Deluscious Cookies and Milk delivers childhood favorites to your door with an old-fashioned bottle of cold milk on the side. Mmmm! I highly recommend the "Chocolate Decadence" cookie, yet another Golden Cherry winner at www.DessertDarling.com! For more information on the Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store, Fabiolus' Cafe, Deluscious Cookies and Milk, and other many beloved bak- eries in Los Angeles, be sure to check out www.DessertDar- ling.com.
