The company recently moved to its new home at the Lyric Theatre on LaBrea and plans a full season. Sam Shepard's “True West” runs thru Oct 3, “Briar Rose” opens Oct 14 and Orson Welles' “Moby Dick” opens Nov 11. The national tour of “The Phantom of the Opera” will be concluding its 17 year run at the Pantages Theatre for a strictly limited run September 23 - October 31, 2010. This event is significant in that this will be the last chance that Angelenos will have to see this breath- taking Broadway phenomenon in its full form with all the amazing production highlights other than making the trip to Broadway to see it there. Los Angeles was the city chosen by Phantom to launch its first national tour in May 1989 when it opened to much fanfare and a redo of the Ahmanson Theatre at the Music Center downtown. Since the $10.3 mil- lion restoration of the Pantages Theatre in 2000, the Pantages has welcomed such other direct-from-Broadway productions as "Lion King," "The Producers" and "Wicked" to the spectacular Art Deco masterpiece. Operated by the Nederlander Organization, headquar- tered in New York City , the Pantages is the premiere West Coast connection to the Great White Way. It is only fitting that the tour closes in the city that embraced this show with open arms, ushering in a new era of theatre production in Los Angeles.
