If Teddy's world is organic, Michelle's is the opposite: sterile, emotionless, mechanical. We tried to make Auxolith like a modernist spaceship, to create something stylized. "We were inspired by the simplicity of mid-century design and the geometry of hives, and were keen to create an emblem that integrated the full name into a distinctive thematic device which reflected power structures. We worked through various iterations together, developing the logo to combine something that was both sterile, threatening and authoritative. The geometric patterns forming the pyramid reference the hive of a corporation with Michelle being the 'queen,' and also a nod to the popular conspiracy theory of aliens building the pyramids which we also referenced in Teddy's set dressing." (Sophie Powell, Graphic Designer) Spaceship. Miniature. "Miniatures have a unique presence on screen. There's a subtle realism to how light hits real surfaces, how materials behave under the camera, that's diffcult to replicate with CGI. While digital effects have their place, there's a certain soul that only miniatures bring— something tactile, imperfect and beautifully human." (Stuart Heath, BGI) From our work on Poor Things, we knew that we could potentially build the Andromedan spaceship as a miniature, just like the ones on 2001: A Space Odyssey and the original Star Wars films. The script stated that the Andromedans had created humans, so that was a starting point. We started researching and wondering what they could be. We looked at science, science fiction, art, fashion, the natural world. If they had created humans, were they actually just as flawed as us? I wondered maybe if they were riding around in a massive sphere, clad in sheets of chrome with massive rivets, powered by nuclear fusion. I wasn't sure why no one had ever done a sphere spaceship before as it's the most effcient shape for space travel. Then, of course, the obvious hit me: the Death Star. C A. TEDDY'S HOUSE. BASEMENT.
